Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
