In excess of 50 solitary child asylum seekers who went missing soon after arriving the UK and while under the supervision of government agencies are yet to be found, according to data obtained.

Many of the unaccounted minors entered in vessels or hidden in the backs of trucks and are believed to have been abducted by criminal networks. A specific county is frequently the area where they first land.

Government Figures Reveals Alarming Statistics

Publicly available data has documented 345 children disappearing from their area, with 56 of those remaining unaccounted for.

From 2021 and 2023, when temporary accommodations for children operated in addition to other sites in other areas, 132 children went missing from the accommodations. From this group, 108 were subsequently located but 24 are remain unaccounted for.

From 2020 and August 2025, 213 children vanished from welcome hubs for these minors, with 182 found and 32 yet to be accounted for.

Regulatory Updates and Continuing Issues

An additional official commented: "The safety and welfare of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children stays important, and we take children disappearing with great concern. We carry on regularly review our systems for new information if this occurs, sharing relevant information with local police forces and district officials looking into the issue."
