Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now won the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, Marseille fired two times late to seize a surprise lead. First, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial leveler in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping crucial attempts from O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
