The Streaming Giant Selects Perfect Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season
Baroque Works is poised to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a adored, popular member has now been chosen.
The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will play Bentham. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve laid a hand on with their main hand. The actor, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will depict a version of that figure reimagined as non-binary identifying, as opposed to as a drag queen, in the live-action series, as in the original manga and anime.
Escola will work alongside multiple new cast members tasked with bringing Baroque Works to the screen, including leader Mr. 0, portrayed by the well-known actor, Sophia Anne Caruso as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who is also part of the ensemble as the monarch of Alabasta.
Even though this character is a important part of Baroque Works, the character will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a notable change in the timing of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could indicate additional alterations to the plot development.
Escola’s blend of excellent comedic sense and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their recent voice performance in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and multiple awards for writing and starring in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.
Netflix's live-action One Piece series is set to return for its second season on March 10, 2026.
