Three-time MVP Jokic endures a 'heartbreaking' injury to his knee.
Triple NBA MVP Jokic endured a "heartbreaking" knee injury while the Denver Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.
Jokic sustained the injury late in the first half following an unintentional contact with teammate Spencer Jones.
The other player came down on the foot of the MVP, who instantly collapsed to the court grabbing his leg.
The star, who is leading the NBA this season in boards and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight assists in the matchup before sustaining the setback.
Jokic is scheduled for an scan on the following day to determine the severity of the issue.
"Immediately, he understood something was wrong," stated Nuggets head coach David Adelman.
"Injuries are part of the game. Any player who is injured, it's difficult, most notably a player as talented as him. More information will come on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust together. Obviously, right now, I am more concerned primarily about him personally and the letdown of experiencing something like that."
