Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to reinforce its aerial protection systems. The first three producers have started manufacturing, with 11 more preparing to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry stated this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Situations

The drones utilize a nationally created system called “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and proved effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Recent Attack on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

The Ukrainian president described Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and wicked” after six people were killed and many others wounded in a series of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens activated in Kyiv just after 12 AM this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy reported the country was hit by 430 drones and multiple missiles. Those killed had been inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Dozens of additional structures sustained damage, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

International Protest After Embassy Destruction

Azerbaijan said it delivered a formal objection to Moscow's diplomatic representative on Friday after the embassy damage. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused significant destruction to the diplomatic compound, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. There were no personnel was hurt, and a ministry spokesperson said the Kyiv embassy was continuing to operate.

Moscow's Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Sees Significant Increase

Russia plans to manufacture up to 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official disclosed, including 500 of an innovative, extended-range model that is capable of targeting more towns and cities. Moscow's military were firing hundreds of glide bombs per day, with the previous month's daily average being about 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Moscow's Oil Facilities

Russia’s Black Sea port of the port city halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – following a strike by Ukrainian forces. Ukraine’s general staff said its forces had fired domestically produced missiles and deployed multiple kinds of strike drones in the attack on Novorossiysk “as part of efforts to reduce the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately struck a processing plant in the Saratov area and a fuel storage facility in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Sanctions Impact Moscow's Energy Company

The number two oil producer Lukoil said this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers regarding its international holdings following recent restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “Final arrangements will be announced after the final agreements are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Ukrainian President Schedules Visit to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members a day after his trip to France, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. Zelenskyy will convene with representatives from all houses of the legislature throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
